The course Emergency and Rescue in Wilderness consists of three correlative modules:
MODULE ONE
Medical emergencies in wilderness
-PCZA/WFR (Primer Contacto en zonas agrestes/Wilderness First Responder)
This training aims at responding on the event of emergencies, providing the participant
with tools for critical decision-making, both in the medical and wilderness-eviction field.
Length: 80 hs
MODULE TWO
Technical Specialization
-ETR (Technical Specialization in Rescue Operations)
The difficult and remote nature of the terrain in which wilderness rescue often occurs, has resulted in the development of all the techniques gathered in the ETR courses.
The specialization includes:
1. Rope Rescue (high- angle)
The course deals with basic and advance techniques for vertical rescue in urban and
mountain zones.
Length: 40 hours
2. Search and Rescue Level I
It provides information on skills, responsabilities and necessary material for those who will take part in search and rescue operations. Length: 24 hours Level II Designed to offer necessary information to train rescuers in their preparation to perform an operation leader role during search and rescue operations. Length: 24 hours
3. Swiftwater Rescue Level I
An intensive, 3-day course. One day for classroom training followed by 2 practice days to develop aquatic rescue skills. Length: 24 hours Level II An intensive, 3-day course. Rescue situations in more complex rapids. This module combines the most advanced techniques if aquatic rescue and rope handling. Length: 24 hours
4. Rescue operations in open waters Rescue swimmer and KRU (Kayak Rescue Unit)
5. Rescue operations in avalanche
MODULE THREE
Stress Management and Psychological First Aid
